Lonely Planet review for Java Café & Gallery

Interesting art exhibitions, wi-fi access, a large airy terrace, and that's before we even get to the menu. Wholesome and filling sandwiches and wraps are the speciality.

Spy on Phnom Penh's earnest expats at this coffee haven

    nog_boinb recommends this,

You'll have already run into half of the city's NGO workers if you've gone for a glass of wine at Ruby's or even hit the dancefloor at the Heart, but Java is where you get to see their other side. Listen in as concerned lawyers pore over the country's environmental legislation, or watch as human rights activitists finesse a powerpoint presentation on child prostitution. If you're not the eavesdropping type, pick up a copy of the Cambodia Daily to run an eye over while you munch on a baguette and sip your latte. Or slip out to the terrace where you can lounge in a wicker armchair under a slowly turning fan, entertained by the streetside drama of axle-deep motos in rainy-season floods.
