Hi. I have been told that the road from Ouaga to Niamey is now very good and done in 4 hours by private car. Does anyone know how long the buses or collective taxis take for the same route now? Thanks!

Hey all, I will be travelling to Burkina Faso from Ghana in September/October this year and want to pick up a visa before I hit the border to avoid paying through the nose if I can. Seeing as there's not an embassy or high commission in the UK I assumed I'd be able to get one from the embassy in Accra when I first got there, only looking on Google Maps apparently it's now permanently closed! Ominously, the website hasn't been updated for a while either, which seems to back up Google, yet there…

Air Burkina

Hi - this may not be news to many, but it's news to me that Air Burkina flies some useful international routes at pretty cheap fares (I was looking at Entebbe to Ouga). I've searched the forum and there's nothing recent - does anyone have experience using them for non-domestic flights recently? Thanks - Andrew

In December 2014 I got the VTE from the Benin Consulate in Barcelona for 140€. It was like Kira wrote 1 year ago. They have a homepage. The woman there is Marisa and speaks French and Spanish. But Emails in English also work fine. She works on the VTE every Wednesday. I sent accidentally the passport there, but it is not necessary. I am back now and entered Mali, Burkina, Benin, Togo and Cote d'Ivoire with it (Burkina multiple times).

I’ve just spent about six days in Burkina Faso, and I thought it might be useful to report on a couple of things that might help other travellers.

Firstly, you can still get a visa on arrival at land borders. The costs are:
24,000 CFA- Transit Visa (1-3 days)
94,000 CFA – 90-day single entry visa
122,000 CFA – 90 day multi-entry visa

I crossed into Burkina Faso from Ghana at the Tamale border, in the far NW of Ghana. It’s very easy to miss the actual frontier and cross accidentally, as I did…

Hi´

We are going to Burkina from 25.12 - 3.1.
Is it necessary to book accomodation in advance - having in mind X-mas and New Year? We are going to Ouga, Bobo and Banfora?

Hi all,

I currently live in Cairo, Egypt and wanted to travel to Ghana but because of the horrendous tourist visa process, I'm now considering visiting Burkina Faso only as they offer Visa On Arrival (I called the BF embassy here in Cairo).

Already I have read a lot of useful information here on BF but I have a few questions:

(1) With my travel time just under three weeks, is this enough time to comfortably visit the following places - Ouaga, Tiebele village, Gaoua, Bobo and Niansogoni. Can…
