Introducing Southern Burkina Faso

The gateway to the Parc National des Deux Balés where the elephants roam, is the sleepy town Boromo in Southern Burkina Faso.

In the east, Bobo-Dioulasso, affectionately known as 'Bobo', retains it's small-town charm despite being Burkina Faso's second largest city.

A good launching point for visiting the lush countryside of this region is little old Banfora, while Gaoua is a base from which to explore the culturally Lobi country with its unmissable Sunday markets and boîtes (informal nightclubs). Tiébélé is worth the detour if you're headed to or from Ghana.
