Daskalov House
Across the stone Arch Bridge (1844) on ul PR Slaveikov, one of Bulgaria's nicest cobblestone streets, is this 1808 walled home with garden. It also contains the intriguing and unique Museum of Woodcarving & Icon Painting. It features some superb examples of the Tryavna school of woodcarving, as well as icons and antique copper implements.

Museum of Icons
Housed in a former chapel, Tryavna's second, larger Museum of Icons contains over 160 religious icons from the erstwhile collections of famous local families. The museum is beyond the train line, and signposted from ul PR Slaveikov.

Slaveikov House-Museum is dedicated to Petko Slaveikov and his son Pencho, renowned poets who lived here for many years.

St Archangel Michael's Church
Overlooking the square is this slate-roofed church, Tryavna's oldest church which is magically lit at night. Burnt down by the Turks but rebuilt in 1819, it boasts intricate Tryavna school woodcarvings. It's Museum of Icons illustrates the history of Bulgarian icon painting.

Tryavna Museum School of Painting is housed in Staroto Shkolo, the town's old school. Built in 1836, it's now been fully restored.
