After contacting my hotel and finding that that they will charge us 15 euros/each to take their shuttle, I want to find a better way. I've read that tourists are often overcharged if they take a taxi from the airport. Is there a certain taxi company that doesn't do this? And do all of the taxis have meters? Is it possible to agree upon a price before we get in the taxi?
Our hotel is only a few blocks from the central bus station and looks to be walkable. We're staying at Hotel Adria. Would…
We will be doing a lot of public transportation in Bulgaria and I was wondering what the luggage storage situation is - is there a space to put larger roller bags on the trains? What about the buses?
We've taken the train in the Netherlands and Belgium and were surprised at how little space there was and how they oversold the trains so we didn't have a seat. Is this common practice in Bulgaria?
We will probably spend some of our time in Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Turnovo, Bansko and visit some…
Stupid question but I hate to arrive and get ripped off
Going from airport to near the Banya Bashi mosque.
Also taxi from that area to bus station that takes you to Serbia
Will be travelling from Sofia to Bucharest in November and would prefer to do this during the day. As far as I can make out my only option, other than flying which I'd rather not do, is to take the 07:55 train which gets into Bucharest at 17:15. Anyone any idea what this long journey is like - presume the train is very basic, border stops ok?, usually running late? etc
Is there any option to travel by bus during the day? Can only see a bus that leaves at 00:30 each morning for an overnight…
We're planning our trip to Bulgaria and need some suggestions.
We will be there for 3 week in November and want to "live like a local" if at all possible. Should we pick three places in the country to "base" ourselves then travel from there (we want to use public transport as much as possible) or just stay in Sofia and do everything from there?
We love to hike, love art, historical sites and doing unusual things. We figured we will rent apartments during our stay and will spend the final…
I understand that bus number 84 will bring us from the airport almost to the city center. What is the name of the metro station which the bus stops near by?
Is there a daily ticket? 3 days? or a week?
Just a quick one - how long is it worth staying in Sofia in Bulgaria? We are going in early November and only have a tight timeframe to work with as we are also off to Romania. I've heard that Sofia was quite boring though so not sure it's worth more than a couple of nights(but this from someone who was there years and years ago).
Is there a bus from Dragoman (ДРАГОМАН)to Kalatina (КАЛОТИНА-ЗАПАД) Serbian border a distance of about 15km in the afternoon, if so do you know times and prices, thanks
Sorry for the extra posting (I put it on the general E. European board but got no response, so wondering if someone here knows).
I am an American citizen who will be traveling to Bulgaria soon.
I see a few websites say I need to register within 48 hours. They say my hotel will do it, but I will be renting an apartment and therefore they say I will need to go to the police station to register. Is this really necessary? Is this a rule that is ignored or perhaps no longer in effect? If it's even…
