Getting there & around
Rio de Janeiro is the major gateway to the coastal regions, though if coming from the south or west you can reach the Costa Verde via São Paulo. Belo Horizonte, Brazil’s third-largest city, is the gateway to the old gold-mining towns in Minas Gerais.
Numerous flights connect the three major cities of the Southeast – Belo Horizonte, Rio and São Paulo – with plenty of bus links covering Southeastern destinations. Ilha Grande is reached by ferry from Angra dos Reis or Mangaratiba.
