For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

Hi LPers:

Would anyone know if its possible to take a slow boat from Manaus to Tefe so that I can experience the hammock sleeping on the boat and also I belief this part of the boat journey is interesting. And then can I get off at Tefe and take the fast boat onward to Tabatinga?

Many thanks,
Mareena

hi there LPers:

wondering if anyone can advise if going to Mamiraua is worth the money as it seems rather expensive. I am in two minds as to just do a jungle tour from Manaus and then get back to Manaus and continue on with a river boat to Tabatinga. Or I make my way to Tefe from Manaus and do the Mamiraua jungle tour and then from Tefe take a boat down to Tabatinga?

I have had a lot of feedback on LP chat of people doing the Manaus jungle tour but have not had any feedback from LPers that…

Hi, we have reserved an apartment for 2 weeks in Salvador, in an area just east of Barra, near the Hotel Vila Galé, which I guess would be Ondina. We are travelling with a 1-1/2 year old baby, which would limit somewhat how adventurous we might get, although we have arranged for a local nanny to allow us to do things at night, and in general to give us more flexibility; nonetheless, we are assuming that everything will take perhaps twice as long with the baby (or we can do half as many things as…

I have read many posts on TRIP-ADVISOR** regarding Buses Natal-Fortaleza, but we want to go the other way the first week of July. All the Bus websites show no availability Fortelaza-Natal, but then again, I read that Bus schedules are not posted until 30 days before departure...

Would we have any trouble booking a bus Fortaleza-Natal the first week of July? Should we wait and book on the ground when we get to Fortaleza?

Bom dia,
On Friday I go to Salvador via plane.
I'm sure the cambios at the airport are a rip off! And then it's the weekend as I arrive late Friday night.
Where do you think over the weekend I can get a good rate for usd as well as during the week? The current rate to sell usd?
I will be staying in Rio Vermelho
Many thanks. Muito obrigado
Esteban

Hey all!

Im travelling to Rio between Aug 4th to Aug 19th solo, and just wondering if anyone else is around and fancied some site seeing company!!

I'm 27 and from the UK, I've travelled solo a fair bit in the past, but lets face it, a Caipirinha (Brazilian drink!) is gonna be alot better with company :D

On the tail end of this, anyone have an advice for...-
-good/reliable hostels to stay at?
-places to visit? (besides the standard things on the first page of Google)
-anywhere else I could visit…
