Getting there & around
The village of Itatiaia is most easily reached from the nearby city of Resende (the hub for buses to/from Rio). Service between Itatiaia and Resende runs every 20 minutes on weekdays, every 40 minutes on weekends. There are a few daily buses from Itatiaia village into the park (leaving the bus station at 7am, noon and 4pm, and returning from the park at 8am, 1pm, and 4:45pm; R$2 one-way). A taxi ride from Itatiaia town to the places to stay within the main section of the park costs R$20 to R$25.
