To the southeast of Nova Friburgo, Lumiar is a popular destination for Brazilian ecotourists, with cheap pensions, waterfalls, walking trails, a brand new Alê Friburgo hostel and white-water adventures centered around the Encontro dos Rios, the tumultuous confluence of three local rivers.
