  5. Beaches

    In general, the southern beaches are trickier to get to, but they're prettier and have better surf. The northern beaches are more sheltered and closer to the towns.

    Going counterclockwise from south of Manguinhos, the first beaches are Geribá and Ferradurinha (Little Horseshoe). These are beautiful beaches with good surf, but the Búzios Beach Club has built condos here. Next on the coast is Ferradura, which is large enough for windsurfing and Lagoinha, a rocky beach with rough water. Praia da Foca and Praia do Forno have colder water than the other beaches.   6. Orla Bardot

    The eastward continuation of Rua das Pedras, Orla Bardot, is a delightful winding oceanfront promenade linking the two oldest and most picturesque sections of town (Armação and Ossos). As you walk along the beachfront, you'll notice several wonderful statues by sculptor Christina Motta, including representations of Brigitte Bardot and former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek, plus some remarkably realistic-looking fishermen hauling in their nets.

  7. Swimming, Diving & Snorkeling

    The biggest draws in Búzios are the natural setting plus the intoxicating mixture of opportunities for relaxation, nightlife, shopping and ocean sports. There are some fine swimming, diving and snorkeling sites near Búzios; the offshore islands of Âncora, Gravatás, Filhote and Feia are especially good diving destinations. Several local operators offer tours to local beaches and islands.

    Excellent fusion cuisine is the name of the game at this fancy eatery with black tablecloths and white lights twined around palm trunks. The Argentine chef, whose other culinary ventures include stints in Ibiza, Spain and Arraial d’Ajuda, cooks up fabulous specials such as risotto de camarão, manga e capim limão (tiger prawns risotto with mango and lemongrass).

    The biggest draws in Búzios are the natural setting plus the intoxicating mixture of opportunities for relaxation, nightlife, shopping and ocean sports. Cobblestoned Rua das Pedras is Búzios' main venue for shopping, dining and evening entertainment, overflowing with revelers on weekend nights.

    Buziosnauta’s

    Buziosnauta’s boats depart Armação daily at 9:30am and 12:30pm for a 2½-hour boat circuit including 12 beaches and two islands, with stops for swimming and snorkeling at Praia João Fernandes, Ilha Feia and Praia da Tartaruga. It also has a dive center.

    Devassa, a new cervejaria (brewery) right along the waterfront, dares you to enjoy their beer to the fullest, with all-you-can-drink Thursdays and two-for-the-price-of-one deals daily till 20:00. Live music on weekends.
