Bus

From the long-distance bus station (3212 3100), buses link Florianópolis with every major city in southern Brazil. Destinations include Blumenau (R$26, three hours, hourly); Joinville (R$33, 2½ hours, hourly); Porto Alegre (US$14, 6½ hours); Curitiba (R$37 to R$65, four hours, hourly); São Paulo (US$28, 12 hours); Rio de Janeiro (US$42, 18 hours); Foz do Iguaçu ($108, leito – overnight sleeper – R$226, 14 hours). International destinations include Buenos Aires (24 hours) and Montevideo (20 hours).

Air

Direct flights go to São Paulo (one hour), Porto Alegre (one hour), Rio de Janeiro (1½ hours) and Curitiba (40 minutes), with connections to most other cities.

The airport (3226 0229) is 12km south of the city (R$20 by taxi). Red local buses marked Correador Sudoeste run to the airport (R$2, 45 minutes) every 15 minutes from the local bus terminal on Rua Antônio Luz.
