Valença’s tiny airport, served only by small air-taxi companies, is 15km from the center.

There is daily boat service to Boipeba, Gamboa and Morro de São Paulo from the port in the center.

The bus station (3641 4805) is a 1km hike from the port (or a R$8 taxi ride). Buses go to Porto Seguro (R$51, nine hours, one daily), Ilhéus via Itabuna (R$25, five hours, three daily) and Camamu (R$9, 1½ hours, hourly from 5am to 8pm). For Salvador, take a bus to Bom Despacho (R$13, two hours, hourly from 5am to 11:45pm) on the Ilha de Itaparica and then a ferry across the bay.
