Bus
Recife’s bus station is the large Terminal Integrado de Passageiros (TIP; 3452 2824), 17km west of the center. TIP handles all interstate buses and many destinations within Pernambuco. You can purchase many bus tickets at outlets in town, or by calling Disk Rodoviária (3452 3990), a bus-ticket delivery service.
Destinations include Caruaru (R$14 to R$18, two hours, hourly, 6am to 8pm), Fortaleza (R$73 to R$93, 12 hours, four daily), João Pessoa (R$15 to R$21, two hours, 31 daily), Maceió (R$30 to R$46, four hours, 11 daily), Natal (R$48, 4½ hours, eight daily), Rio (R$242 to R$257, 38 to 42 hours, three daily) and Salvador (R$93, 14 hours, one or two daily).

Air
From Recife’s Guararapes Airport (code REC; 3464 4188), there are direct flights to most major Brazilian cities, often on a choice of several airlines, plus Lisbon and Madrid with TAP Portugal and BRA. The following airlines have offices in Recife.
