Getting there & around

Abrolhos is located 80km offshore from Caravelas, the primary gateway, where travel agencies offer one- to three-day trips to the park. Day trips run to R$180 per person, including park fees and lunch. Abrolhos Turismo runs a two-day schooner trip, with an overnight stay on board, starting at R$360 per person including park fees, all meals, soft drinks and water. Snorkel kit rental is R$10 per day. Trips require around a 10-person minimum to go out, but by working together, tour operators usually manage to get trips out even in the low season.

From Arraial d’Ajuda, Arco-Íris Turismo (3575 1672; Rua do Mucugê 199) occasionally organizes three-day catamaran trips that cruise south along the Bahian coast, then on to ­Abrolhos.
