For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.
I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea.…
Hello fellow travellers !!
I would love some advice for my very fast approaching trip to South America.
I am getting quite overwhelmed trying to plan the trip from Salvador to BA. The more research I do the more places I find I just have to get to!!
I am travelling alone. Starting in Salvador, Brazil and finishing up in Cartagena, Colombia. At this stage the only time limit I have is the first leg of my trip.
I fly into Salvador on the 18th of November and need to be in Buenos Aires by the…
Is there an efficient and cheap way to get directly from the airport of Rio to Ilha Grande? We prefer to go directly and not first go into Rio with all the hussle, but that might be expensive. If anyone knows, let me know!
Dear fellow travellers,
As of the 1th of February I will head to Brazil, which will be the startingpoint for me and my girlfriend's 6 months trip through Brazil, Columbia and Central America.
We're starting in Salvador due to serveral reasons; firstly I cannot seem to find any affordable flights to Manaus without a stop in either Salvador or Rio - and if we're already in Salvador, why not look around for a week or so? Furthermore I fell in love with Bahian culture when I last visited Brazil…
I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to travel from Rio to Caraiva, we're desperate to visit both places but ideally would like to go directly from Rio there as we're on a tight time schedule but if not we want to make a stop over worth it, I'm on my gap year so budget is also important! If you have any suggestions please let me know.
Hello incredible travelers!
I'm in Brazil, Sao Paolo, for work and need to escape to a quiet spot near nature and the ocean the weekend of 7-9 November. I'd prefer a quiet, affordable (~$100-150/night, prefer local and enviro-friendly), safe (for a single female) place. I'm burnt out on the energy and crowds of the big city and really want a quiet, fresh-air getaway. I would love your recommendations, especially if you've found a magical moment, hour, or day of blissful solitude!
I have a group of Higher Education professionals visiting from Brazil to New York for an event in November. I was provided their job titles but I am unsure of how these translate into the U.S. system. What position would a Higher Education Superintendent be equivalent to in the US? What position would a Higher Education Rector be equivalent to in the US? What position would a Higher Education Pro-rector be equivalent to in the US? What is the difference between a teacher and professor…
I am doing an internship in Buenos Aires for 6 weeks and at this point it is only 1,5 week left.
Therefore, I am planning my trip through South-America!
I am meeting a friend in Rio 2 weeks after finishing in BA and I would like to profit from these 2 weeks to enjoy the (preferably coast side) of Brazil. Since after Rio I will be travelling all the way to Salta, with a stop in Iguazu in the middle, I would like to avoid Iguazu on my way to Rio. I have been to Uruguay (Colonia,…
My husband needs to travel with either Ritalin or Dextroamphetamine (for ADHD). I have had trouble finding out if he is able to travel into Peru/Brazil and Argentina with it and what the requirements are.
For some countries it is a letter from the doctor is enough but other countries have stricter rules. Does anyone know where I can find this information? I have looked on the consular/embassy websites and no such luck.
I've also posted this in the Peru forum so hoping between the two…
