Morro de São Paulo Getting there & around

Getting there & away

Both catamarans (R$50, two hours, three daily) and lanchas rapidas (speedboats; R$60, two hours, daily) travel between Morro and the Terminal Marítimo Turístico in Salvador. The ride can be rough. Extra departures are added when there’s sufficient demand.

If coming from the south, passenger ferries travel upriver to Morro from Valença (R$5, 1½ hours, hourly from 7am to 5pm), stopping first in Gamboa. At low tide, passengers are bussed to Atracadoro, then transferred to a waiting ferry. Lanchas rapidas (R$11, 40 minutes) leave whenever they have a full load.

Three daily flights go between Salvador and Morro (20 minutes, R$170 to R$180). Contact Aerostar (3652 1312, in Salvador 0xx71-3377 4406), Adey Taxi (3652 1242, in Salvador 0xx71-3377 1993) or a travel agency.
