Bus
From the bus station (3221 9611; Rua Francisco Londres) there are services to many destinations, including Fortaleza (R$80 to R$120, 10 hours, two daily), Natal (R$21 to R$31, 2½ hours, eight daily), Recife (R$16 to R$21, two hours, 26 daily, 6am to 7:30pm), Salvador (R$122, 16 hours, 7:30pm except Saturday) and Sousa (R$54, six hours, up to six daily).
Air
Presidente Castro Pinto Airport (3232 1200) has flights to Rio, São Paulo and the major cities of the Northeast and the Amazon, plus some charter flights from Europe.
