For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

Hi,
I would like to see the wildlife in Brazil, especially jaguar. My research suggests Porto Jofre is going to give me a good chance of a sighting of the latter, and Alta floresta has good birdwatching possibilities. Unfortunately, there is no cheap backpacker- style way to do it. The cheapest options for Porto Jofre are with local companies offering packages. The three companies recommended by the Rough Guide are :
Natureco
Ecoverde Tours
Pantanal Nature

Does anyone have recent personal…

Hello travellers!

I sure need the help of some experts here.

So i am in Brazil right now (Salvador), and my mext destination is Cusco (Peru).
The (non) direct flight over there is rediculously expensive, so i read about a way to get there from Rio Branco (Acre), Close to the peruvian border.

I read some threads on the internet of travellers who have done that, but these posts were pretty a long time ago...
That's why i'm asking the help of someone who done that lately to help me with more…

We have a hotel booking in Copa and would anybody have an idea how much a taxi would cost for the trip?We are disembarking Crown Princess in Rio and just wondering how far from the city is the port. Is it by meter or do you have to negotiate? Thanks in advance.

Hello!

Last time I ask this question, but I think I wasn't explain my selfr right. So, here I am again. I came here because I know maybe you all can help me! I’m a huge fan of local food, in fact I think that one of the best things can happen when I’m travelling is to find a place to eat where there’s only local people, because that’s means it’s a great place to eat. So, since I this fan I’m trying to find places/webs/stuff to eat like a local!

What’s your recommendations! :)

Thanks!
Lau.

Hello! My boyfriend and I (25/26) are spending two weeks (15 nights) in Brazil in November. We will be flying from Canada and will be landing and departing from Sao Paulo but do not plan to spend any time in the city. We haven't decided on the order of our trip but I am thinking something along the lines of:
Rio (5 nights)
Ilha Grande (3 nights)
Salvador (4 nights)
llha de Boipeba (3 nights)
I think we would need to split the days in Rio and Salvador to have a few days before and after our side trips…

Hi,

I am in Rio at the end of December/start of January for the NYE period. I am planning on travelling down to Arrail de Cabo for the 27th and 28th. I was wondering how easy it would be to drive down there myself instead of taking public transport? The cost doesn't concern me, it is mainly navigating my way out of Rio GIG airport and down to Arrail de Cabo. As I am coming directly from GIG airport I assume I can avoid the city traffic on my route there? I will be returning the car to the same…

I've seen some discussion about Carnival at Rio vs Salvador, but some of the information is getting a little dated. I myself am trying to decide between the two cities for Carnival. I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on which would be better for us. My boyfriend and I are Canadians that have done a bit of backpacking already (New Zealand and SE Asia), and plan to be in South America starting January 2017, for one year (depending when the money runs out!!) We were going to start on the…
