For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.
I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…
I'll visit the olympics in Rio next month together with 2 friends but we have about 6 days left afterwards. It is not a lot of time of course but I guess it gives us an opportunity to get a glimpse of the beauty of Brazil.
I did some research on the internet and we decided to visit the Pantanal. Because of budget reasons I suppose it is better to visit the Pantanal from the south. Therefore our plan is to book a flight to campo grande and travel from there.
Here is the point where the…
So I've been doing some reading on options to enter Brazil (Amazon), via Iquitos in Peru or Leticia in Colombia, and crossing the Amazon by boat from Iquitos>Tabatinga>towards Manaus or from Leticia instead. I will be there in November.
I will be in Mexico (after visiting Peru) right before visiting Brazil. The flights Mexico DF to north of Brazil don't seem feasible, so I will either come back to Lima (only to flight to Iquitos, as I would have toured Peru already), or take the flight…
Are there any companies that offer direct transfers from Morro Do SP to Salvador airport.
We would like to catch a 1 pm flight back to CGH, but I wonder if we are gonna make that.
As we do not have a lot of time, we prefer not to leave Morro a day earlier..
I know about the flights from Morro to Salvador, that would be another, but quite expensive option.
Thanks for your replies
I need to book a hotel for one night before going on a Pantanal trip and one night after.
It doesn't have to be the same hotel, I will most likely fly out of Cuiaba the day after the trip at around 11 am. so the hotel for the last night should be convenient for the airport. Does anyone have any recommendations?
I'm backpacking South America solo and have 6 months to do so. I was planning on making Brazil my first stop. It seems to be a little bit of a head ache for U.S. citizen to get a visa. I'm trying to spend less than $50 a day. I'm planning on couchsurfing so accommodations shouldn't be an expense. Is it possible to maintain this budget?
Is it worth it to include Brazil in my itinerary? I'm planning on heading to Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Columbia after. Should I focus more…
I will be in vacation for 2 weeks (27-28 August to 10-11 September)
I would like to have a jaguar tour in Pantanal from Cuiaba but I am alone: would someone do it with me to share the cost?
I am friendly and flexible.
With a few weeks to go before travelling to the Rio Olympics would be useful to hear from residents or people who are there very recently about transport advice - or any other general tips for Games-time.
Will be staying in Ipanema but looking for realistic expectation for travel to the Olympic Park out at Barra. There now seems to be news saying the Metro line out there will be completed 3 days before the Opening Ceremony. Great if it happens (and works!) but can you advise about…
Does anyone have any recent information about traveling east from Corumba? I want to visit both Bonito and a Pousada outside Miranda, then travel onto Campo Grande to fly to Cuiaba. The only concrete info I could find after several hours of web searching is a single bus from Corumba to Campo Grande (via Miranda) which leaves Corumba daily at 23:30 on Andorinha (I'll be arriving at 7:00 from Bolivia). I know there's transport from Bonito to Campo Grande, but what about from Miranda to Bonito…
