    Rock in Rio

    The young and wealthy head for Aeroclube Plaza Show (Av Otávio Mangabeira, Boca do Rio), an outdoor entertainment complex with a few bars, dance clubs and free live forró nights. Rock in Rio is a 1700-sq-m dance club with eight bars that gets packed on weekends. Also in Aeroclube, Café Cancun has a Mexican theme to its food and décor, and makes for a fun night of dancing and tequila drinking.

    Buoni Amici's

    The Dragão do Mar area has several open-air restaurant/bars where people flock for evening drinks and to see what live music, street theater or other action starts up. Amici's is an attraction in itself with Brazilian music (live or DJ) from about 21:00 Thursday to Sunday.

    Orãkulo

    In an old building in Jaraguá, this dancehall is a favorite destination for Maceió's many forró lovers. The plaza in front is a lively meeting spot on weekends, with casual drink and snack stands in an otherwise barren neighborhood.

    Arraial has great nightlife throughout the summer, when beach clubs like Magnolia host dance parties.

    Sweaty nights spent dancing rootsy lambada and forró are an Arraial staple. Ask around for the current hot spot.

    On Monday nights, Pimentinha is the place to head. Decorated with LPs, mannequins, old umbrellas and other found materials, Pimentinha hosts spirited bands (often playing MPB or Música Popular Brasileira) and a diverse crowd.
