Getting there & around
Two ferries travel between Porto Seguro and Arraial d’Ajuda. The passenger ferry (R$2.50 to Arraial, free return) runs every 30 minutes from 7:15am to 7:45pm. The car ferry (car R$9.50 to R$11.50) runs every 30 minutes from 7am to midnight, then hourly between 1am and 7am. From the dock, jump on a bus or Kombi van to Arraial (R$1.60). It’s also possible to walk the 4km along the beach, but be cautious about carrying valuables or walking alone during hours when the beaches are deserted. Tourist muggings have occurred.
Bicycles and motorcycles are available for hire in the village.
