For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

Hi.
Me and my girlfriend are going to Brazil 2.5 weeks in July-August. We fly into Salvador and fly out of Rio de Janeiro. This means that we will have to travel Salvador - Rio during our stay. Both of us are very interested in whales, so we would like to stop over in Parque Nacional da Chapada Marinho de Abrolhos just off the coast of Caravelas, during this trip. What are the most efficient transportation opportunities Salvador-Caravelas and Caravelas-Rio? I suspect it might be easiest to fly in…

Hi all,

Me and my girlfriend are going on a small trip to Brazil from 22 july until the 8th of August. We rented a car for 8 days and we want to drive from Rio to Ouro Preto, from Ouro Preto to Ilha Grande, from Ilha Grande to Paraty and from Paraty to Sao Paulo. We know that driving along the coast (Rio -> Ilha Grande -> Paraty -> Sao Paulo) is safe and a well known route for travellers. We are unsure about driving from Rio to Ouro Preto, we heard that the roads are very bad and it is…

Hi all,

I am taking boats up the Amazon from Macapa, Brazil to Coca, Ecuador during July. I obviously want to do some expeditions into the interior, but am running into the fact that most of the tour companies only provide details for the typical 3/4 day trips (which almost always includes river dolphins, meeting of the waters, piranha finishing, sunset/sunrise, caiman watching, and like one or two three hour nature hikes).

These are all generally well reviewed, but I'm very conscious of a…

I know this is an old chestnut but it has been playing on my mind since I paid for my ticket 4 months ago.

I will be spending five weeks in Brazil later this year (November ) as a solo male traveller. I have visited a quite few countries , always as a solo traveller but would still regard myself as a nervous traveller ie I do tend to worry about almost everything.

The places I will be visiting will be Iguazu Falls, Brasilia, Manaus, Belem, Sao Luis, Olinda (recife) , Salvador, Sao Paulo…

Hi all,

Apologies in advance if this question has already been asked.

I fly into Sao Luis in early September and will spending a few days here before moving to Barreirinhas or Atins (not sure which area I want to visit Lençóis Maranhenses from). After visiting Lençóis Maranhenses I want to travel to Jericoacora and spend a week here and then move on to Fortaleza and continue following the Brazilian coast all the way to Rio.

There isn't much information around on how to get from Sao Luis to…

Hello there!

I am trying to get two tickets for the July 16th Flamengo-Botafogo game.
1) how can I do this from the US without a Flamengo or Botafogo membership?
2) without a CPF?
3) for relatively cheap -- is this even possible at this point?

Thanks so much!

Hi guys,

I'll be crossing the Brazilian border in Corumba, coming from Santa Cruz, tomorrow. I have 2 days before having to be in Iguazu.
Keep in mind I will come back to Campo Grande & Bonito afterwards (long story), so I was wondering if there were any recommendations on the way down to Iguazu, any spots where I could spend a day. Corumba itself? Dourado?

Thanks a lot !

We will be traveling to Manaus next week, but will be there only one full day, with sightseeing in the town, no jungle or river tours. Do we need any meds other than Deet and proper clothing?
