From Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso, there are three gateways to the Pantanal – Cáceres, Barão de Melgaço and Poconé.

Campo Grande, the capital of Mato Grosso do Sul, is a transportation hub, while Corumbá is best accessed by bus from Campo Grande. The route to Corumbá from Campo Grande runs via Aquidauana and Miranda.

There are direct flights to Cuiabá and Campo Grande from Brasília and connecting flights from Rio and São Paulo. TAM is the only major Brazilian airline connecting other capitals, including Campo Grande and São Paulo, to Corumbá.
