For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.
I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…
Hey, has anyone heard of a tour operator called Amazon travel biz? Their website is www.amazontravel.biz but I can't seem to find reviews on them in TripAdvisor. Does anyone gave experience with them or know anything about them? Thank you.
Hi everyone. I've been searching online for an answer to this but only seem to get this relating to a 90 day visa. We entered brasil on our UK passports last month and the immigration officer only gave us a 30 day visa (even though we get 90 days) we said we'd be here about a month so he just stamped our passport with 30 days. We are now in Manaus and had to wait around a bit for our Amazon tour in Tefe which means we will officially be leaving brazil 3 days later than the 30 days given to us. I…
After debating whether to buy a rtw ticket or pay-as-you-go I decided to buy a one-way ticket to Brazil. Great I know, very excited and can't believe will be in Salvador in 5 weeks. However, I realise that I need evidence of onward travel from Brazil and would like to know the best budget-conscious way of doing this in South America. Maybe constantly looking at fares on Skyscanner but would like to experience overland travel as much as possible and arguably this is more environmentally…
Hey, I was thinking of going to see if I could find some monkeys at tijuca but now it seems the forest surrounding Cristo redentor and the forest at Sugarloaf mountain are much better for that. The only thing I'm wondering is which one is better for wildlife viewing, anybody know? Thanks so much!
I'm thinking about doing the long drive from Iguazu National Park to Rio de Janeiro, and am looking for an interesting places to stop by. Places I'm interested in are the ones with beautiful nature, nice (small) towns, and places with mystery/magic surrounding it. I'm in the process of wrapping up my trip in South America and going back home from Rio, so only thing missing now is the ending. If someone can help out it would be greatly appreciated.
I've posted on this issue before but so far no luck. I want to go to Brazil to see Jaguar at Porto Jofre and do some birdwatching and wildlife viewing in the Cristalino area. There appears to be no cheap way to do this. There are no cheap hotels in the Porto Jofre area, no public transport there from Cuiaba and it costs a fortune to hire the necessary boat to see jaguar (I'm travelling alone, so no one to share costs). The cheapest way is to use a tour company and they are certainly not…
It's that time of the year when we have to book our annual 3 weeks-long holiday. This year we thought visit Brazil.
We will be travelling couple (26 and 24 years old), sleeping in private rooms (backpackers hostels) and taking internal flights for long journeys(SP->Rio->Salvador->SP). We like to have at least one proper meal (i.e. not street food) daily. We will go at 1st October (for 3 weeks) . We thought to visit Sao paulo, Rio, Salvador (Moro). We want some beach relaxing, nature and city…
Hi there, I realize there are no guarantees in nature but does anybody know how likely I would be to see to see monkeys and other wildlife in Tijuca national park in Rio De Janeiro? Thanks in advance!
Me and a friend are flying to Rio on the 22nd of June and flying home out of Buenos Aires on the 25 of July.
This gives us roughly 33 days on the ground!
We plan on backpacking and travelling by buses overland trough Iguazu and when we get to Buenos Aires go over to Uraguay for a day or two by boat.
We are experienced backpackers and intend on staying in hostels and eating local food and travelling cheap etc.
so I have a few questions which I hope can be answered!!
Is 33 days a…
