For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

I was wondering if it's possible to fly out of Brazil with my Peruvian passport and enter the United States with my U. S. passport?

Hi guys,
I have been trying to organize a trip to that peak for a while in past years. But no luck with finding someone that could help with organizing logistics.
Does anything changed actualy in the status of Pico da Neblina? Is it still closed for tourists and only army and research/science expeditions can get a permit to go into that region?
We are group of 5 people ready to go for it but looking someone who could help with organizing permits, logistics?
Thanks advance for any ideas

Concerning Manaus, again same issue, 4 days there, we…

We're considering driving from Ouro Preto to Paraty.
Main issue is that all rental companies don't have offices in
Paraty to drop the car (we won't need it afterward). Second issue, we'd arrive there late on a Saturday, and most rental offices are closing by noon.
Any info regarding a suitable rental company would be welcome, as would be any practical piece of advice (beside keeping the car 'til next Monday :-) ) or personal experience.
Thx
Eric

This encontro is taking place in a few days (26 July) in Acupe (Santo Amaro) in the interior of Bahia, genuine roots music, a cultural gem.
