Bus

The bus station (Av NS-06 at Av LO-27) is at the far southeast corner of town. Taxi fare to/from the station is R$25. To get into town, use the bus stop across the main road from the terminal – almost every bus that passes is headed to the center and stops in front of Galería Bela Palma.

Transbrasiliana (3217 5600) has daily buses to Natividade (R$22, three hours), Belém (R$143, 20 hours), Brasília (R$74, 13 hours) and Fortaleza (R$192, 36 hours). Imperatriz (3228 5613) runs buses to São Luis (R$140 to 150, 23 hours) daily except Saturday.

For Taquaruçú, take Bus 90 from Praça Girossóis in front of Galería Bela Palma.

Air

GOL (3218 3738; airport only) and TAM (3219 3777; airport only) are the primary airlines serving Palmas. All flights go via Brasília.

The airportis located 28km south of the city center. A taxi from the airport to the hotel area costs R$40 to R$45, and the same to return. Alternatively, catch the red number 75 bus at the airport curb (hourly 7am to 7pm) to the ‘Terminal, ’ where you can switch to Bus 20 (hourly 7:35am to 7:35pm), which passes Galeria Bela Palma in the center. Do the reverse to get back. Either direction, the first leg is R$1.70; the second leg is free.
