For the benefit of everyone dropping by the Brazil branch for the first time, please read this FAQ first. And I hope there can be some sort of way to moderate the thread to keep it updated and clean. I know there are some AWESOME regular contributors here who enjoy giving advice; I feel this thread can really help to condense the information available.

I'll go first, with some general thoughts from the South America FAQ. Many thank to Apollo for starting that thread and for a great idea…

Hi,
I'll be arriving at IGU at about 1410h. Was thinking of making a run for the Brazilian side of the Falls before it closes at 5pm. Any recommendation on how I can do that?

I'm thinking luggage store at the park but not sure what are my options if that is all taken up.
Also, how much and how fast to take a taxi from IGU to the Falls (Brazil side)?

Hi all,
I'm looking at buying domestic flights for Brazil online and there is one 'fare condition' I'm unsure about and want to clarify before going ahead with the transaction.
Under the 'Fare Regulations', it states "Advanced Purchase: 28 days". Does anyone know what this means???
I emailed GOL but no word yet.
Any help much appreciated!

Hi there, I have been traveling now for 11 mo in SA and am sorta tired. And, I am looking for a place on the Brazilian coast to spend the winter... I don't want just a beach town. I am looking for a town/city with services, safe (as far as can be expected), like the tropics a lot, but it doesn't have to be there, not too fond of highrises that crowd the beach.....AND pretty beaches.... have been to Rio, Paraty, Ubatuba, Araial do Cabo, Buzios, Saquarema. But, still looking. So, can anyone…

We're about to leave on a nice long trip through Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. Starting off from Brazil, we've already figured out that the best way (also due to visa issues) is the land crossing from Corumbá to Puerto Quijarro, which allows us to take the train ride to Santa Cruz, which seems quite fun. However, this also means that we'll be at the front door of the Pantanal, which is very enticing.

Anybody have recommendations for lodges (or camping, we are going fully equipped, and can camp; in…

Ola gente,

Well, I'm back in Brasil, and I am really having problems this time! I used my debit card a few days ago to withdraw reais from an ATM. Now, for the past few days, I cannot use my card! It keeps being rejected with a "daily limit exceeded" message coming back to me, eventhough I have not used it to withdraw money since the first time. When I spoke to local back officials, I was told that "banks in Brasil only allow the usage of a debit card ONCE a week to withdraw funds, and…

Dear All,

I'm going next January to Brasil, arriving in Salvador de Bahia.
After the first days there, I would like to eperience primary rainforest in Brasil (I was already in secondary rainforest in Ecuador and Bolivia). Preferable by boat or 4w drive because of the weight of the foto equiptment.
Given the time frame of around one week, I have to fly in to the lodge (I assume).

I would like to ask you, if you could recommend a tour operatour for interessted hobby photographers and/or an area…

I was wondering if anybody had any information about the annual pilgrimage in the city of Bom Jesus da Lapa in Bahia. I'm going to be in Salvador in mid-August, but the only information that I've found so far says that the pilgrimage (perhaps called the 'Romaria') takes place at some point in August. Does anybody know if it lasts the entire month, or if there are specific dates that I should be aiming for? Or even more specifically, if it's worth the nine-plus hour bus ride from Salvador?
