Another looming high-rise brought to you by the Estanplaza group (owner of 10 soaring hotels in the city), the Paulista is one of their better priced hotels, with friendly staff, a good location and clean and modern rooms, all with balconies.
As with other high-rises try to get a room toward the top. This will guarantee you quiet, but not necessarily a view, as the 15-story Estanplaza is wedged between several taller buildings. The quarters themselves are trim and attractively designed if rather uninspiring. All have huge windows, recessed lighting and comfortable furnishings, including a dark-wood desk and a small sofa. The Brazilian-themed artwork livening up the beige is for sale. The only real disappointment is the rooftop pool, which is slightly larger than a bathtub. If you can't be bothered walking the two blocks to the metro station, there's a taxi stand out front, making it a breeze to zip about town. As it's mostly business travelers here, you can often score discounts on the weekends, when you may feel quite lonely in those long corridors.
