Lonely Planet review for Amir
Serving some of Rio’s best Middle Eastern dishes, this enticing two-story restaurant near the beach offers consistently good plates of hummus, kaftas (savory meatballs), falafel and salads. Daytime crowds come for the buffet (R$33/45 on weekdays/weekends), while at night it’s à la carte.

Great food, great service, good price

This was my best meal in Rio. Had the falafel for starters, mixed grilled meat platter that had 2 kinds of sausage (one had a great sweet, mint? flavor) chicken, and lamb, a rice dish with lentils and fried onions on top (very tasty), then baklava for dessert. I also had some other dessert that was a cylindrical shaped almond cookie, rolled in crushed pistachio, and had a fig center...brilliant.
The service was great, nice quiet place just off the Copacabana beach.

a wonderful experience....

After eating rice and beans for 3 months solid, I desired a different cusine, so after walking past this hidden treasure I was pleasantly surprised....
I was welcomed in by the waiters, and they have an extensive menu with some offers on between 3-5pm, I didnt think that I would get falafel's anywhere in brazil as a vegetarian, there is a lot to choose from including baba ghanoosh, humous, pitta breads...and for the meat eater in mind they serve lamb gyros. There were lots of healthy options....
There was not a black bean or rice in sight! it was definatly value for money ,and the waiters were very chatty... telling us the restaurant was family owned and open for some time.
The restaurant has a arabic theme, and very clean and relaxing. i think it would suit familys or couples..but the price meant it catered for myself as a budget traveller...
I went to this restaurant a few times throughout my stay in Rio and the waiters offered me free drinks on my return. ..
This was one of the best places I ate while in Brazil, and offered an authentic Arabic experience.... One of the hidden treasures that adds to my love of Rio de Janeiro, and only a stones throw from Copacabana beach if you want to sunbathe, people watch, check out the markets or even have a cheeky Caiprinha......Good for: atmosphere, food, Solo Travellers, service
