Those interested in improving their volleyball game – or just meeting some Cariocas – should pay a visit to Pelé at Escolinha de Vôlei near Rua Garcia D’Ávila, on Ipanema Beach. Pelé, who speaks English, has been giving volleyball lessons since the late 1990s. Lessons are in the morning (from about 8am to 11am) and in the afternoon (5pm to 7pm). Look for his large Brazilian flag on the beach.
