Lonely Planet review
About 4km east of Gweta, you’ll see a huge concrete aardvark (no, you’re not hallucinating) that marks the turn-off for Planet Baobab. This inventive lodge forsakes masks and wildlife pix, replaced by a great open-air bar-restaurant (meals P49 to P90) filled with vintage travel posters, metal seats covered in cow hide, beer-bottle chandeliers and the like. Outside, rondavels and chalets are scattered over the gravel, and staff contribute to a vibe as funky as it is friendly. Campers can pitch a tent beneath the shade of a baobab tree. It has an excellent range of activities and creative pan excursions of up to four nights.
Our independent authors have visited Planet Baobab and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Gweta.
