First sincere apology for such a big post and thanks for your time to stop by and have patience to read and reply a few of them where you can help me. I am posting this in Namibia Botswana and Zimbabwe forum Too as trip covers these 3 countries.
We are planning a self drive trip to Namibia - Botswana in Next May / June but as camp sites within National park booked pretty early we want to start as soon as possible.
Few things to point here first to let you know our objective:…
Hi, we are three Spanish in a budget trip to Botswana for three weeks next August.
Already decided our itinerary but have one doubt:
We have hired our own 4x4 vehicle. We have searched trough different agencies to book game drives in Chobe and Okavango and have found prices not affordable.
As we have our own vehicle:
- would it be possible to contact any local guide so that he/she comes with us in our vehicle?? I think would be cheaper, nicer, and could learn more about their culture and land.
Hi, we are a Spanish couple and we will be in Bostwana in September. We'll arrive to South-Africa and then rent a car to cross to Bostwana. We have a short budget then we have rent a normal car (no4x4) and we will take our camping tent. we have an itinerary bbut we will decide how many days we will be in each place. Almost everyone recommend me to book the campsites and excursions but we don't know where we are going to be each day.
Moreover, we would like to visit Baobas at Makgadikgadi Pans…
My partner and I are planning a trip to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans and to the Okavango Swamps in August. We're borrowing a friend's 4x4 and taking our own camping gear to cope on a limited budget. We want to spent 2 - 3 days exploring backwaters in a mokoro - with the emphasis more on quiet, away from crowds, than on big game.
Has anyone travelled with the Real Mokoro recently, from Etsha 13? [Between Sepupa and Gumare, up the Western delta.] There are some lovely posts recommending them…
We are leaving open a flexible amount of time from landing in Vic Falls.. we are going to spend a couple of days there and are hoping we can organise a safari that will take us to Chobe and OD, and end in Maun where we fly out... has anyone done similar, are there plenty of agencies in Vic Falls to negotiate tours that will suit our time frame? We were hoping to find something that isn't too expensive, but doesn't tie us down to a tour with a group of 20 ppl.
My husband and I are travelling to Botswana in September for our 'honeymoon'. We have decided not to do a safari package tour as they tend to be quite inflexible. It's not been difficult to create our own, however, we are finding that we can't book some activities independently, as they require 4 people minimum. We can't believe we are the only couple travelling at that time - so someone else must be having this same problem - and so we are hoping to connect with another couple/group, in…
I am going to Nambia, Botswana and Zambia in late October returning early November this year. My small group will be staying in the Okavango Delta in traditional bushmen huts and have been told to bring sleeping bags. I am not sure what type of sleeping bag to purchase especially for a an occasional night. Any recommendations?
Since we will be travelling frequently the lighter the better however comfort is also very important to me.
Thanks in advance.
Has anyone made the drive from Maun airport to Planet Baobab. Im reading its a paved road and 2hour drive.
in order to save costs on a road transfer (we were quoted $400USD each way!), i was going to rent a car but after 20 hours of traveling I want to be sure this isnt a complicated drive. Is this a piece of cake or a complicated place to drive?
Dear all, We are flying from Gaborone to Joburg on either Air Botswana or South African Airways (haven't booked yet) and then on to London on BA. Does anyone know whether our luggage can go straight through from Gaborone to London, or will we have to pick it up and check in again in Joburg. The answer really determines what flight I book. Many thanks.
We are planning on doing a self driving trip through Botswana in May. Does anyone know how the road is from Maun to Kasane? We will be in a regular car, not a 4x4. Is this feasible?
