Leaving Pretoria early June I have a seat available in my 4x4 heading up to the Okavango either via Krueger Park or the Trans Kalagadi Park possibly the Kalahari Park or Etosha can be discussed. Share diesel, Park and camping fees. You will need your own tent etc. Cooking facilities available (no fridge). For easy going chill person.
Will be arriving at Livingstone Falls in July after 2 weeks in Tanzania/Kenya (Safari).
Question is as follows. After spending one night (?) at Victoria Falls, we (family) have 5 nights left before we fly home. Should we...
A - Spend 5 nights in the Okavango Delta area?
B - Spend 5 nights in the Chobe area?
C - Split the time between the Delta & Chobe? (say... 3 nights in the Delta/2 at Chobe).
We would have already spent time on Safari in East Africa so looking for a different style of…
We are planning 4x4 self-drive around Bostwana in June, and really want to experience the wilderness and solitude of Kalahari. I read various posts about driving from Central Kalahari all the way through to Khutse - it's doable as long as you can be self-sufficient (i.e. have enough food, water, gas, etc. for the entire trip). However, it's strongly recommended to have at least two vehicles for this route. Any adventurous travels out there interested? The dates are around June 21-24 for…
Has anyone experience with Kingfisher Safaris and their canoe safari on the Zambezi river?
I am trying to find a canoe safari for 7 days on Okavango delta, but no success thus far?
Appreciate any helpful advice.
What are the (best) options to travel from the Victoria Falls to Maun?
We plan on only taking a rental car after our safari in the Okavanga Delta, and won't need it in the Vic Falls area yet either. So now looking into other options.
I am planning on driving through Botswana as part of an overland trip. I have heard recently that it is possible to free camp off the side of the road in lots of places in Botswana, but haven't managed to get many details or verify this. Does anyone know from experience?
Thanks for the help!
Have a rough plan starting from tomorrow! Pick a car up in Francistown (10.05.16), head for Kasane, drop it there (12.05.16), go see Vic Falls, back to Kasane (15.05.16), head to Maun (16.05.16), See the Okavango Delta, Leave for Ngepi Camp in Namibia in the reserve (18/19.05.16) then leave there and head south down to Gaborone (21/22.05.16)
I'm renting a car and doing tours. I'm a 22 year old English guy just wanting to see Botswana. Not got loads of money to spend so will most likely be…
Has anyone rented a car in Kasane and dropped it off in Maun without having to pay a drop off charge? Avis, for example, charges $166 to drop a car off in Maun even though they rent cars in both places and that route is well travelled.
We are a couple planning a self drive in Botswana for 8 days. After that we fly to Mozambique for a few days.
From my research and our adventurous mind, we want to do a self drive with no tour operators or guides, camping, cooking ourselves and keep it as low cost as possible.
So far I found out it's cheaper to rent a 4x4 + self drive safari + camp, than a normal sedan car + camp + safari with a day tour. What do you think?
And it's more fun to do it yourself right? (although I saw some…
