I am traveling from Gauteng to Botswana with a group of 14 people for a holiday from 14 April 2017 and returning 29 April 2017 back to where I live in Gauteng. My regular travel companion will not be available to make the trip. I am seeking an interesting 35 to 50 year female companion to join us and share travel expenses on an absolutely amazing trip into the African bush. We carry mostly our own food and water and sleep in tents to the sounds of Lions roaring most nights other than the…

Hello! We're a Canadian family of three and we're in Maun, Botswana right now. We'd like to do a self-drive in Namibia and would like to pick up a car in Maun and drive across the border. Most rental companies charge a crazy drop fee making it impractical.

Does anyone have any leads on companies that would not charge a drop fee? Perhaps a company that we could take their car BACK to Namibia for them?

Any leads are appreciated.

Thanks!

ben

I just came back from a week safari with Lelobu Safaris in Botswana and couldn't be happier. I'm not one of their employees or a personal friend, but just a very satisfied traveler who was lucky to choose them.

The safari was perfectly organized. 2 days at Oddsball Camp in the Okavango Delta, 3 days in the Khwai Development Trust and then the last couple of days in the Chobe National Park (Savuti and Riverfront).

We first took s scenic flight from Maun to Oddsball Camp. The setting there is…

Hello,

I am planning a trip with my girlfriend in November and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who has travelled a similar route. The planned route is Maun - Kasane - Etosha - Skelton coast - Cape town - Durban.

I currently live in Botswana so i am fairly comfortable with where i want to go here but would love some advice on places to visit from kasane onwards.

Having never been to Namibia i know very little about it and would really appreciate advice as to the feasibility of…

Cross-posted on Botswana and Namibia fora.

We are planning a trip which will include Botswana and Namibia.

We will need visas for both of these.

We have found good information on visas from various sources, however some key information seems impossible to track down:

1) How far ahead can we apply for visas for Botswana and for Namibia (e.g., for RSA it seems that it cannot be more than 35 days ahead)? This has obvious implications in terms of the overall trip timing.

2) What is the…

I'm exploring the option of joining another person or small group for a ~10-14 day safari in November. I have offers for a private trip, but it'd be too expensive and lonely on my own. My dates in November are flexible.

Thanks, Matt

Greetings fellow adventurers,
My husband and I are sketching in the details of our adventure to southern Africa. We are contemplating driving vs flying some legs of our journey. How are the roads and how long does it take to drive from Shakawe and Maun (Botswana)? We will be driving from Etosha. Is it worth doing on a self-drive truck with a tent over the top--has anyone done that or something similar? Thanks for your insights/suggestions...

Hi,
I'll be with my family in kasane at the begining of august and we are undecided which the best camp site is.
We are traveling with a 4x4 with roof tents. As this is the start of our trip, the chobe river lodge camping seems a bit too luxurious. Ngina and Thebe are the two top candidates. Toro Safari Lodge appears to be closed at the moment.

Can anybody share their experience with camping in kasane?

Thanks
Karsten
