Best Goggles I've Ever Had
Superb fit. Excellent clarity in all conditions. Photosensitive Lens is Incredible. Works well with my Smith helmet. Best Goggles I've ever purchased. Well worth the price.
best goggles on the market!!!
i took these out to copper mountain this past weekend and they were awesome! the weather was mid teens with a few inches of snow accumulating throughout the day with wind gusts up to 20mph and the eclipse sppx held its own. the auto light adjusting polarized lens technology worked great when the sun peaked through the clouds and equally as well when the sun was covered up. my friends around me were complaining about their lens fogging up but i had no problems with visibility what so ever. the eclispe sppx are quite pricey but worth every penny and they look totally sick! a friend said i reminded her of a spartan in halo.. haha. these goggles are true to fit.
Hesitant to purchase - glad I did...
Optics, function and fit have always been the priorities for me with any goggle or sunglass. Good visibility enhances any outdoor activity, especially skiing or riding in my view. and I've hardly ever hesitated to spend a bit extra to get top notch quatlity. In reading the marketing information for the Zeal Eclipse SPPX goggle, I was quite interested, as years ago I had a pair of light sensitive goggles - but all they did was get darker as the light level increased. The photochromatic aspect of the Zeal Eclipse peaked my interest. I ski mainly in the Northeast, and cloudy days and changing conditions far outnumber sunny days. I also do not like changing out lenses for different light conditons, such as when a cloudy day turns sunny, or vice versa! My hesitation grew from the fact that I couldn't find these goggles locally, and so I couldn't try them on... I worried about the fit. I knew I could return them, but that is a hassle I wanted to avoid. In addition, another's review mentioned a "pinching of the nose" with the goggles. However, I bit the bullet and ordered them. And, having used them for several days with varying light conditions, I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I've had a few high-end goggles over the years, and the optics with these new goggles are extremely awesome. The photochromatic effects are nearly instantaneous - I have found the transition of skiing from shaded areas into bright sunlit areas is seamless. On cloudy or snowy days, the improved definition within low-light conditions is clearly evident (pun intended). Other reviews expressed a concern with the outer edge mounting of the lenses - as one needs to be very careful in handling the goggles. But, I do just that - I'm careful when handling/adjusting the goggles. The very large field of vision provided is worth the extra caution to me. The only (slight) con concerns the fit. I have a relatively large face, and yes, my nose is pinched closed somewhat by the foam/padding. However, the optics and photochromatic aspects are so excellent that they far outweigh this slight issue. I'm fairly handy, and if the pinched nose bothers me too much, I know that I can make some minor modifications to customize and make improvements there.
Best goggle yet...
I think the Zeal Optics Eclipse SPPX goggles are by far the best goggles that I've owned as of yet. I own numerous goggles from various manufacturers (Oakley, Smith, etc.) and by far the Zeal goggles exceed those in terms of fit and vision. Of all the goggles that I own, the Zeal Eclipse fit over my helmet better than any other. They don't pinch my nose like the others and the fit between the top of the goggle to the helmet is better as well. As for the lens, the polarization and the photochromatic features cannot be matched by any of the other goggles that I own. I've gone down the path of changing lenses for different conditions, but if that's not a pain in the butt, I don't know what is. With Zeal's photochromatc lens, you need not worry about changing lenses anymore. The only problem I had with them and Zeal is their lack of detail when it comes to sizing the goggles. Unfortunately where I live, there isn't a dealer that carries the goggles. I spoke with someone at Zeal to discuss what model to purchase. They were helpful, but I still wasn't pleased with the result and their sizing guide is practically worthless (I still have no idea what a small, medium and large face is???). I think I've got a medium sized face. The guide said that the Eclipse could fit medium and large faces. Luckily the fit is perfect, even better than my Oakley Wisdom goggles. Luckily Altrec was running an insane goggle sale before Christmas which included these goggles, so I decided to wing it and try them out. Luckily for me I did. Thanks to Altrec I got what I believe to be the best goggle on the market (save their Transcend GPS which I can't afford). I was hard presses to spend a couple of hundred dollars on them, but in the long run I think I would have.
Finally a goggle that fits!
I am 6'2", 205 pounds and have a large head and face. Finding goggles that fit properly are difficult and these do the trick. I've only used them one day but they are definitely keepers. Very comfortable with a great lens that reacts quickly to changes in light. The goggles fit well with my helmet and the lifetime guarantee is a plus.
