Great boots
I'm very happy with these boots. I just moved to Northeastern Ohio from Tennessee and needed a pair of insulated boots for my walk to work, playing with the kids in the snow, and just wearing about town. Yesterday we got 5-7 inches of snow and took the kids sledding. I spent 2 hours in the snow wearing these boots (w/ Smartwool light hiker socks, temps in the mid 20's) and at the end of that time my toes were cool, but not cold. The boots are also very comfortable. The only issue I've had with the boots is that they seem to be sized on the large side. I usually wear a size 9 or 9.5, but the 9's were huge on me and I had to go all the way down to an 8.5 till they fit. Although sending boots back and forth was a hassle, the folks at Altrec were very helpful with the whole process.

look old fashioned
well constructed, although fleece lining could be thicker and posher, runs narrow-which is great for us who are narrow footed--but I found the look too thin soled and old fashioned for my taste
