Light enough for racing, but made with enough cushion for endurance training.
Buying racing shoes shouldn't be agony for your feet or running budget. That's why Vasque designed their Women's Velocity VST Trail Running Shoe to be light enough for off trail racing, but reinforced with enough protection to cushion your feet throughout extended training sessions. Usually most shoe designers either offer a lightweight racing shoe or a protective training shoe, but the Vasque Velocity VST does both without tripping you up on compromises. The reason for this versatility is the new patent-pending Vasque Spine Technology (VST), a design modification that reduces heel impact and enhances cushion without adding excess weight. All of the rest of the features on the Velocity VST are similar to the bestselling Velocity shoe, except the Velocity VST has a refined Vasque Mako II outsole with aggressive tread for excellent traction on a range of trail surfaces. Fit out of the box works well for medium to high volume fit, so most runners are ready to attack their best times with little fuss or fit modifications.

Great shoe - a little roomier than expected
This is a very comfortable shoe, and I'd recommend it to anyone. I tend to run long miles (training for two 50-mile trail races this summer, so my runs are in the 25-40 mile range these days). Two notes to be aware of, if you're considering purchasing this shoe: 1) I wear an 8 in street shoes, and in most other running shoes I've always ordered a 9 (one size up) to accommodate the swelling that happens when you run, to prevent black toenails, etc). In these shoes, when I ordered the 9 it was WAY too big. The 8 1/2 did the trick. 2) The shoes are also wider than you may expect. I like a wide toe box, but these are very roomy throughout, and I'm wondering if I should have ordered the "narrow" witdth instead of regular (even though I've never considered my feet to be narrow before.)
Great shoe but runs LARGE for the size
Normally wear a 9, but the 9 was large for the size. Feels like it would have been a great shoe, but Altrec was sold out at 8.5.
Great Shoe
Great running shoes. I took these shoes right out of the box and wore them on a 5 mile trail run and they did great. I would recommend them to a friend.
Warm, well-constructed shoe
I purchased these shoes for my teenage daughter for fall/winter snow wear. She loves them! They are a good, sturdy-constructed shoe with great foot support and surface grip. They keep her feet warm at the bus stop. We ordered half-size up to allow for heavier winter sock.
Excellent Long Distance hiking shoes
These shoes are great for long distance hiking. The toe box is wide giving extra room for toes helping to prevent blisters. They have great support and aggressive traction for all types of terrain on the trail including snow travel. All in all these are excellent shoes for everyday wear and long distance trail travel. I suggest ordering a half size larger if you plan on wearing them for strenuous activities that cause your feet to expand.
