Very Unique Comfort
After learning about the TrekSta, particularly the foot-mold research and technology incorporated into the shoe, I decided to buy my first pair of Altrec shoes. I've had them about two weeks. I've worn them several times, but I have not yet had a chance to get to the woods for a good, long hike. From the time I have spent wearing them, I can report that the TrekSta is EXTREMELY comfortable. Also, I think they have a cool, unique look. Something I didn't know about the shoe when I bought them is that the treads have several built-in grips called "ice lock" which Altrec indicates are designed for better traction on icy surfaces. One minor issue I have with these shoes is the length of the shoe laces. They are too long; too much extra lace hanging around after I tie them.
Shoes that fit.
These shoes are a masterful design. First pair of shoes that didn't squeeze my small toe under my foot. They have a wide toe box but they are not square. Perfect fit for my heel. Great shoe for people who have feet that are wide across the toes and normal heels. My only complaint was the rubber that wraps onto the top of the shoe adhesion was not the greatest... not a big deal.
Love them
Great arch support. I have a high arch and have Planters F. It really helps.
Very comfortable
I've had these shoes for only two weeks, so I can't speak to durability, but they are among the most comfortable things I've ever had on my feet. I've read in other reviews that you should buy a size smaller, or at least half a size, and that's true. Also, I haven't taken them on trail/climbing conditions yet, but they've done well in two nasty NYC winter storms so far, and in my neighborhood, where sidewalks are only sporadically cleaned and always icy, I think they've helped save my b-tt. The anti-slip technology on the soles (can't remember what it's called) seems to work. Not on every surface, but enough to make walking on snow and ice practically safe.
