Mudsill
I ride a Harley and was looking for something other than the usual motorcycle boot for riding. Not what this product is marketed for, but they're great on the bike. Good grip on the footpegs and the steel toe keeps the top of my left foot from getting raw after hours of shifting. Nice grip on the pavement when stopped in traffic. Definitely a good value since most footwear sold for motorcycling is priced well over $100 a pair.
shoes
Working in the oil field in an engine room on a boat. These are the best shoes for comfort and durability that I have found to date. Others say that they are for engineers but these truly are. Other shoes of this type fall apart quickly whereas these shoes last for a very long while. Wish they made them in XX size but the X wide does fit.
Best Ever... Tell Your Friends
I drive a tractor trailer for FedEx Freight, and I have had 3 pairs of Mudsill's... They are Awesome!! Tried the $139 redwings once and they couldnt even come close. VERY durable, LIGHTWEIGHT (for a steel-toe) and COMFORTABLE for SURE!!
My third pair
I work at UPS and it's a tough job that requires you to have a sturdy work shoe and the Timberland Mudsill is the shoe for the job. It's my third pair and I will continue to buy them as long as they are available. It's the comfort of a running shoe and the toughness of a work boot.
Mudsill are built tough
I have bought a lot of "tactical cop shoes" thinking if they were made for a SWAT team they were tough enough to use in my job. WRONG! They all didn't last a year. I noticed some of my co-workers wearing Timberland shoes so I had to investigate. The design features in the Mudsill that caught my eye was the rubber toe shield, the use of double-stiching throughtout the shoe, all leather construction(except for the shoe tongue), and rugged shoe soles. I like the shoe lacing style with the last holes being hooks, which makes for easy egress. The padding in the shoes are pretty comfortable. The soles did not disolve when I stepped in skydrol hydraulic fluid (aircraft fluid), and the toe shield took a beating crawling in the cargo pit to remove the floor panels. Getting the Mudsill from Altrec was fast and easy, and what's best I got them in the width and length I wanted. No more settling for "standard" fit shoes that are sold at the local shoe store! I am a satisfied customer, I will always shop at Altrec.com.
