Flattering fit and warm too!
This jacket is a nice length for long waisted women, as it hits just below the seat. It blocks the wind and is very warm. The hood adjusts nicely for snug fit and good visibility. The sleeves are a tad long, but unzipping the end of the sleeves helps with hand mobility and still maintains warmth due to the cuff liners. The cut of this jacket and the quilting pattern are flattering to the figure.
Perfect and Arrive on Time!
We are very happy with the North Face jacket that we purchased. The item was sent quickly and arrived on time even during the holiday season. Thanks Altrec!
Warm and stylish
I bought this jacket for my daughter. It's more stylish than most of the other North Face jackets and has a lot of great technical features. Very warm. She's very happy with it.
Great mix of style and function
This is almost exactly the jacket I've been looking for. Stylish and slim fitting, but also warm and with all the right functional bells and whistles. I only wish the sleeves and torso were slightly longer. I ordered an XS for the slim fit, but another inch or two would have made this jacket perfect.
Trendy jacket and warm
I wanted a down jacket with pit zips, and bought this jacket because of the longer length as compared to the Tempest Down jacket. I have an older Tempest Down jacket which I will be comparing this to. Pros: 1. THe style is trendy enough to look put together on a normal day. 2. Lots of pockets on the jacket. 3. I'm petite (5ft), and I bought a size Small, and it fits perfectly. I'm usually in between a small and medium for North Face jackets, and in my opinion, the La Fonda jacket is generous in size and fits well with room for light layering. 4. The jacket is very warm, and kept me snug while skiing and sledding in Minnesota weather. Cons: 1. The zippers do not lock. When zipped up to my chin, the zippers start dropping to my chest if I am active. This also means that the zippers on the sleeve keep opening up so that my sleeves are never tight. The pit zips are also hard to regulate because of the zipper problem. If you zip it open a little, it will come open more, especially if you are active on the slopes. This is not a problem if you need ventilation, but starts to become one when all you need is a little ventilation, but the zippers keep giving you more than you need. The zipper problem is probably my biggest complain about this jacket. I should think that locking zippers are a given with any quality jacket. 2. The collar of the jacket is lined with corduroy. Imagine rubbing corduroy on your chin all day.....by the end of the day on the slopes, my chin was rubbed just a little raw. I ended up unzipping it down to my chin, but then the zipper kept slipping down to my chest, so it was more than a little frustrating. 3. The La Fonda is not as waterproof as the Tempest Down. The sleeve cuffs were not as dry especially while sledding when your hands are constantly in snow. 4. The pit zips are angled oddly. They start at the top of the arm and come down the arm. So they really start at the edge of your armpits -- which seems to defeat the purpose for pit ventilation. They do, however, ventilate better than a jacket with no pit zips, so I'm not complaining too much about them. 5. The hood is much too huge. It's supposed to fit over a ski helmet, but comes down to my chin without one. Since I wear the jacket more often off the slopes than on, the hood is pretty much useless on a daily basis. All in all, even with its problems (which is why I gave it a 4), I still really like the jacket -- mostly for style and warmth. With a few changes, this jacket could be a great outdoors jacket as well.
