North Face Steep Tech Apogee
First, I found the sizing to be correct. I am 6'0, 180 lbs and purchased a size large. The arm length and overall length were perfect. I spent the last few days skiing at Winter Park, Colorado. Over those 3 days, the weather varied tremendously - snow, wind, sun with the temperatures ranging from 5 degrees F in the am at the top of the mtn to about 30 degrees at the base in the afternoon. I hate being cold. The first day I wore my Under Armour cold gear with a fleece jacket under my new jacket - I was too hot and found myself using the vent system and unzipping to keep myself from sweating. After that, I wore my under armour cold gear with a very light NF moisture wicking shirt. I was a little cool on the lifts when the wind was blowing 30+ mph at the top, but it was not unbearable. Skiing the trees and bumps, I was still working up a sweat with my new layering system, but the vent zips worked great. I felt the jacket stopped the winds and while I was being covered in snow sitting on the lift, I was never wet from the snow. I also liked the velcro sleeve cuff tabs - kept the snow out and worked great. I had seen a con writtenas the height of the collar. It was perfect for keeping out the wind and snow. No complaints. The one con I had with the jacket is the size of the pockets. Although there are 5 pockets on the outside of the jacket, they are all small. I prefer to pack a sandwich, but about all you can fit in there is a power bar. don't plan on putting your hands in the pockets, they won't fit. I also have kids, and if you have kids you understand, I could not carry anything extra for them. Overall, a great jacket. If you want to wear this jacket out on the town, probably not the jacket for you. If you want a great ski jacket, I would highly recommend.

Great for mild winter
I've had this jacket for a week and so far, I have received greet reviews. It is a great design and actually looks better in person. The temperature has been around 25 to 35 degrees and it normally keeps me warm. The venting system comes in handy when it gets warm and I have used it a few time. Overall, it is a great product and will recommend it to everyone.

Jacket designed for skiing, not urban wear
The is a shell jacket. Technical ski gear like this isn't designed to be warm, it is designed to perform while being layered. I can't feel any sympathy for people looking for a winter coat to wear around town and not getting what they wanted with this jacket. This is a shell, not an insulated winter coat. That said, if you're looking for a technical shell, you'd be better off with the TNF Free Thinker or something from the Arc Teryx line.

inadiquate for winter conditions in the urban city
I found the coat/jacket to be less than warm when needed. I always found myself looking for a sweat hood to wear underneath to maintain the insulation. Which by the way for the price that I paid for the jacket/coat I certainly expected way more. North Face has been known for years to be the #1 in winter gear. They missed the mark with this one.
