Don't want to take this thing off!
I love this jacket, in fact I won't take it off. Been raining non-stop in Chicago and one day I walked into a North Face store and saw the Cipher jacket. It was love at first site except they did not have the hood version in black and recommended checking online. For those interested the hood is worth the extra money on those rainy days when you don't want to carry an umbrella or get wet. Plus, the hood version of the jacket comes with Velcro straps on the sleeves so it helps with sizing and makes the jacket more wind proof. I get cold easily and what I have found is that if it it is below 50 degrees this works great with a base layer otherwise 50+ and you will be great with a t-shirt. You don't feel the wind at all and the jacket is very mobile. I am 5"10 and weigh 155, the medium fits me perfectly. However, I will say that I have long arms and I could see people with shorter arms finding the sleeves too long. The only draw back is the zippers. They pulls are red and do look a bit stylish or comical when pulled all the way up. However, that is a personal preference.

Awesome Jacket
I love this jacket. I am a student in CT and I got this jacket for this past Christmas. This jacket is a light, spring jacket, but is definitely warm when worn over a sweatshirt, or when worn under another shell. It is the perfect jacket for a student that walks to class. In the rain, snow, wind or just when it is cold out, this jacket it awesome for the walks from the car to classroom. Also, this is a great jacket for hiking and everyday use. Fabric is very soft, however it seems delicate and may snag easily. and the 2 side pockets are annoyingly large. Also, the hood is a great added bonus.

A Great Jacket
I can't saw enough positive things pertaining the the Northface Cypher Hybrid jacket. As an matter of fact I returned my Mammut Ultimate Hooded Jacket and purchased the Cypher. In my opinion the Northface is a much better jacket in many ways. First of all the Cypher is at least $100 less than the Mammut Ultimate. The Northface Cypher is thicker and warmer than the Mammut. Where the Mammut Ultimate zips open the Cypher cinches at the hem to keep warmth in. I primarly utilize the Northface Cypher for hiking and snowshoeing in the Adirondack Mountains. I wear a patagonia capeline or R1 shirt with the patagonia nano pullover and my outer layer is the Northface Cypher. A mile into the hike/snowshoe I'm unzipping the long vent zippers in the front of this jacket. I also like the fact that this jacket can be used as a great mid-layer under a shell when temps fall into the 20's or below. This Northface jacket is a wonderful functional jacket to have in your pack or wearing it in the outdoors. An amazing value too. Note: I returned the Mammut Ultimate Hooded Jacket to Altrec. I was standing around awaiting my cross-country runner to finish a race. It was only 50 degrees out and I was cold standing around in the Mammut. I also didn't like the athletic fit of the Mammut. An outdoors person can layer much more easily with the Northface Cypher Hybrid. I'm going to have this Northface jacket in my pack when kayaking camping this summer in northern Maine as a jacket to use while sitting around at night. I've spent lots of time in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and the nights get pretty cool in the summer. The Northface Cypher will take care of my comfort level. So, if you love to be in the great outdoors, I highly recommend this jacket.
