Best Tent Ever
I used to own the previous version of this tent when it used to be called Peregrine. Unfortunately, TNF stopped makign that tent and I had sold my Peregrine. I was kicking myself for years after having done that. However 5 years later, TNF started producing the Peregrine tent again in new colors calling it the Manta Ray. No way would I pass this up. SO here's the skinny: The 3 person Manta Ray has enough room to comfortably fit 2 people (approximate size of a full/queen size air mattress). The vestibules on each size provie a couple square feet of personal storage space so you aren't tripping over your gear. I've used this tent in both warm desert weather and wet beach weather. This tent will do a fantastic job of keeping you dry. I never had a problem there. The tent has a really nicely designed 6 - 8" deep bathtub floor with sealed seams to keep water out. I've had bad tets int he past that flooded and this tent blows those away. In really arid environments, this is probably not the best choice since the rainfly will seriously dampen ventilation and using it without the rainfly will let in too much sun since the entire top of the tent is mesh. IF you are worried about bugs, etc this is an awesome tent for you. The mesh is extremely fine. Even when I used this for camping on a beach, I had no problems with sand fleas. The only thing to beaware of is taht this tent is not an ultralight backpacking tent. It has some weight to it. So if you are looking for something relatively easy to carry for a few miles before pitching, there are better choices out there. I would recommend this tent for couples or small families who camp ocasionally (especially in the North East) who are generally more concerned with keeping dry and away from bugs than someone looking for ultralight performance.
