In a perfect world (one with consistent weather, anyway) any budget-minded skier would only need to buy one quality jacket for skiing every day this season. While it's not a perfect world, the Spyder Titan Jacket might be the perfect choice for anyone who can only afford one jacket for all the days they'll be on the mountain. That's because while some high-end jackets merely vent, the breathable, weatherproof Titan offers zip-off sleeves with a handy storage pocket in back that holds the sleeves until the weather or seasons change. Spyder added armhole wind cuffs along the shoulder openings to reduce wind penetration, but unlike shell and microshell convertible jackets, the Titan offers consistent insulation throughout the torso (although it might be a little too warm on some spring skiing days). Spyder treated the rugged polyester dobby fabric (or stretch nylon herringbone depending on color choice) with a special XT coating that penetrates the fabric and forms a honeycomb pore structure that lets vapor escape while keeping exterior water droplets outside the jacket. A Spylon water repellent finish helps keep the droplets from consolidating and saturating the pores. Like most Spyder ski jackets, the Titan is loaded with extra features, including internal mesh goggle pocket, "Flasher" internal pocket, retractable custom chamois lens wipe cloth and a zip-out powder skirt with custom snaps and gripper elastic.
