GREAT shoe!
I have never owned Salomon's or any trail shoe, for that matter. I wanted a pair of Gore Tex tennis shoes for a July trip to Alaska. I wore these every single day. They were not only extremely comfortable, but kept my feet completely dry on rainy days. I love the quick laces. If you are going to be in cool weather, I highly recommend a light wool sock.

Great Trail running shoe

They've lost the magic
After years of great running in the Comp 3 GTX, I'm disappointed with the Comp 4. They're still waterproof, and seem to be lighter in weight, but they lack the support the Comp 3 had. Furthermore, they've gone from the triangle sole grips to a rectangular grip with dots. I prefer the triangle for running on muddy trails in the Seattle area. The Solomons used to rock, but now, they're just average. They've lost the magic.
