Long lasting LED light with three intensity levels, strobe, and red flip filter for night vision.
When having light is not an option, the Petzl Tactikka Plus Headlamp makes it easy in a compact and lightweight design. Four long burning LED's with three lighting levels (and strobe) adjust to help conserve battery life with just the needed amount of illumination. A red flip filter option emits a soft beam in order to maintain clear night vision. Easy to switch from white to red light, the beam can be aimed easily on its swivel mount. Water resistant, this all-weather light rests comfortably with an adjustable elastic headband.

Well-designed headlamp
The lamp is light enough that you don't need to tighten the headband too much, so it's very comfortable to wear for long stretches. It's also easy to orient the beam, and the red flip filter is incredibly convenient. On many other lamps you need to swap out filters, which is very impractical, or you need to press a button several times to switch light color, which increases the risk that you might accidentally flash someone's night vision with your white beam. So having the flip filter is really good.
Great Lamp
No frills, but the red filter is really nice for pre-dawn summit bids. The red is also great for doing camp chores after dark when backpacking. If you use it mountaineering, opt for lithium AAA batteries instead of alkaline batteries. They are lighter and less affected by extreme cold.
excellent headlamp
White LED shines a lot, tested during earthquake rescue operations at Conception -Chile.
Great pick
I love the red, you can see much more around you at night rather than just the blaring beam of the white light. Though the white light is great for reading at night.
Good Call
I like the red LED a lot. And the normal light on it shines a lot farther than any other LEDs.
