The Patagonia Women's Nano StormJacket's combination of top-quality synthetic insulation with complete stormproof protection provides everything you need against the nastiest weather imaginable. A 2.5-layer waterproof/breathable barrier, bonded to the nylon ripstop shell, protects the PrimaLoft One insulation, doing double-duty to keep you warm in even the most drenching and frigid conditions; the fully adjustable, helmet-compatible hood has a laminated visor to help you see through the tempest. The jacket's cuffs seal with self-fabric hook-and-loop closures, and a dual-adjust drawcord hem helps you keep the heat. Pockets: two handwarmers, one left chest, one internal (all zippered) and one drop-in.

All-Around Jacket
This jacket was a really smart purchase for our California coastal weather. It is very lightweight so great for travel, and also worked perfectly for East Coast Spring weather (rain, below 30 degrees). The quality is what one would expect from Patagonia; lots of attention to detail, intelligent design and excellent construction, which is, of course, reflected in the cost. But this is the jacket that can be worn on the West Coast 7 months out of the year, and with layering can even work in snow and really cold weather. Before I purchased the Nano Storm online I was honestly concerned that it might be just a glorified raincoat. I was happy to find out that instead it really is a proper everyday jacket, without the bulk, which provides mid-range warmth and can be easily packed away as the day heats up by the afternoon.
