The reason for the popularity of Patagonia's super-compressible Women's Down Sweater - Special Edition is simple: its minimal weight and excellent warmth. The new and unique shell fabric does more than look sharp; it's tear-resistant, windproof and water-repellent, and made from 50% recycled polyester. Details include top-quality European goose down, a quilted-through construction, lightweight coiled zippers throughout and a stretch-mesh interior chest pocket that doubles as a zippered stuff sack. Two zippered hand pockets; regular fit.

special edition is special
this jacket looks fabulous! But far more importantly, it fits the bill on function.. cozy, comfortable...I wear it with my nano puff underneath and it protects from the mountain cold like no other combo I have encountered! Great product, great company, looks and practicality..cannot be beat..a must have for every winter closet!
special?
Why it is special - 900-fill-power together with better nylon shell fabric. It is definitely a bit lighter and warmer than the 800-fill-power down sweater but does it worth paying US$75 more! Bought this sweater for my wife because she loves the raven colour matching with purple color zipper. Will there be 1,000-fill-power or even 1,100-fill-power down jacket coming out soon and what would Patagonia call it - down sweater xxxxx?
Patagonia out does itself
My husband jokes that I need an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my down jackets. I do own a few and until recently my Patagonia Fiona was my all time favorite. Now I own the special edition down sweater and Fiona gets less wear. Why? The special edition is the only jacket I know of that uses 900 fill down. This allows a sweater that is much lighter yet still as warm as the regular down sweater. The fabric is more durable, yet still wonderfully soft and comfortable. Design is upscaled as well by a gloss fabric that is highlighted by a bright colored zipper. I have the black with warm, rich scarlet zipper. I wear this jacket for professional and casual dress-up and it gets lots of looks because people notice it is unusual -- not the ordinary down sweater. Size is interesting as in a Fiona I am a small, but in the sweater I am definitely an xs. (I weigh 110 and am 5'2".) I can still wear something warm under it, even w an xs. That's good because ther isn' a huge amount of that 900 fill in this jacket, which weighs less than 12 oz. It is so light you can forget you have it on. Sometimes I think I am cold or that I might be cold when in fact I am not. This coat though is definitely not for major expeditions in cold places, except as a mid - layer. I live at 6400' elevstion in the Sierra, not too cold and lots of sun. It works for me much of the time but on single digit temps --cold days I put on a thicker jacket.
Almost like your not wearing anything
This is a great jacket to wear by itself or as a mid layer. It's super light but keeps you nice and warm. The material for the Special Edition has a little bit of sheen to it, but I like that. The fog color is perfect as it's not pure white or drabby grey. Perfect Spring / Fall jacket. It is amazing how light it is also.
Love this!
These down sweaters are so cute on and very versatile. I use it as an outer layer when it's cool out and as an inner layer for cold skiing days. Love it for both! And I always get compliments on how it looks on. (I now have the item in 3 different colors.)
