Patagonia's warmest, most durable insulated hard-shell jacket for riding in the roughest, coldest conditions, the Primo Down Jacket features pit zips to quickly dump excess heat form a 'Ridge' crossing. Its Optimal Visibility Hood that is helmet-compatible and 2-way adjustable with a laminated visor, is complimented with Touch Point System embedded cord locks for easy adjustability. Performance details include a fully featured, removable powder skirt with webbing loops that attach to any Patagonia Ski/Snowboard pants, two handwarmer pockets, two chest pockets, and one bicep and interior pocket for stashing essential. Patagonia Primo Down Jacket
This is the best jacket I have ever owned. It provides the insulation and warmth you need for going to work on cold, windy mornings when your body is not generating much warmth. It is also the only jacket I have ever found that has pit-zips THROUGH a down layer. Those zips keep you from getting overheated. Forget "breathability" VENTING will really keep you comfy. This very same jacket is also perfect for keeping you comfortable as you start to move around and generate your own warmth. If you have to lug stuff between buildings and aren't in the greatest shape you could wet your work "dress clothes" with sweat in a thick down coat, ...but not with the Primo Down Jacket. The pit zips keep me totally comfy warm and dry whether its a cold morning or I'm exerting myself. Usually it would take 2 coats to serve both purposes. This coat is an H2NO shell with a down sweater sewn to it, but the sweater floats from the shell but is kept captive at the edges with a breathable mesh. This helps with breathability too. The hood is also lined with down and taffeta which warms quickly on your skin and provides excellent protection from wind and cold. This coat exceeds all my needs and is highly recommended. I only rated it warm, because I never get overheated in it. It keeps me at the perfect temperature over a wide range of circumstances. It's expensive, but performs extremely well. Just try to find a zipper through a layer of down feathers.
Does it all
I am very pleased with my recently purchased patagonia primo down jacket. It appears to be of excellent construction, warm and waterproof. Fits true to size I ordered large and am 6' 1". Recommend for cold temps.
The Real Deal
I purchased this item to reduce the 'Layering'. When I'm in -10d to +20d temps for days, I rarely have the need or patience to adjust clothing. I'm 5'9" & 160lbs. The medium is perfect. I can fit a light fleece or down sweater underneath for colder temps. I take mild-paced long hikes (not vigorous activities) so I count on the gear to maintain the little warmth I generate & I spare no expense on the gear to enjoy it. The coat is impeccable quality. Arc'terx / Mtn. Hardware equal. The down is the thickness of a their separate sweater. The shell should be used for the military, it's that industrial. The SS Minnow wouldn't have sunk if this lined the hull. It's very easy to move in and pockets placed comfortably. It sufficiently replaced a much bulkier down coat and XCR shell. It solves the freedom of movement issue that besets the folks following the 'layering' bandwagon. I am amazed at how imperceptible the seams are. Black typically shows the most wear but not on this coat. The Velcro at the wrist closures will likely be the only thing to possibly fail over time on this jacket. The comfort level will make you forget the price. Huge value in letting you focus on enjoying whatever activity you pursue.
Awesome!!
I am 5'10", 155 lb. I ordered a medium and it fits perfect. It is very comfortable and warm. I am 100% positive this jacket would hold up for any winter sport activity.
Great jacket!
Bought this jacket for my 18 year old son. He wears it as an everyday jacket. Says it is the most warm jacket he has ever owned, yet the most lightweight. Overall really cool looking too. Plan to get one for myself based on his recommendation
