Made for the cold, dry air of the Valhalla's, where your white smoke hangs suspended, the light yet durable Men's Insulated Outskirts Jacket has a compressible layer of 100-g PrimaLoft One polyester to insulate against piercing temperatures (even if it gets wet). The 2-layer 100% stretch-woven nylon shell incorporates a waterproof/breathable H2No barrier and a Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish for unshakable performance in epic conditions. In the backcountry, pit zips provide ventilation on long slogs. The lightly insulated, helmet-compatible hood, adjustable, removable, powder skirt, watertight zippers and bottom drawcord hem seal out spindrift and wind; the powder skirt has webbing loops that attach to any Patagonia Ski/Snowboard pants. A chamois lining inside the collar keeps your neck and chin protected from chafe. Pockets include two handwarmers, a left bicep (with an integrated pass holder), two interior mesh pockets and an electronic chest pocket.

Warm- not overly warm, but good for winter sports
There are a lot of excellent features on this garment- my main complaint is that at full price it's pricey and other companies make similar items. Ventilation is at the top of my list because if you're active chances are you're going to want to start off zipped up but then unzip the pits as well of course as the front, before delayering. It makes a good belay jacket- waterproof enough, and warm enough. I recommend it- but would buy it at end of season when on sale.
Excellent Made Ski Jacket, but Heavy!
I purchased this jacket with intentions of skiing in and out of bounds and having to carry less items (layers). It would be an awesome jacket if all you did was resort ski via lifts. It is extremely warm and built with the same quality and craftsmanship we have come to expect from Patagonia. There are plenty of pockets and the fit is generous. The only thing I did not like is the removable hood which I am not a big fan of. As stated the jacket is great for inbounds skiing but I am returning it to get the Primo jacket. It is a little heavy and bulky if you are planning on hiking or skinning at all and doesn't pack down the smallest, other than that it would be a great ski jacket!
