The reason for the popularity of Patagonia's super-compressible Men's Down Sweater - Special Edition is simple: its minimal weight and excellent warmth. The new and unique shell fabric does more than look sharp; it's tear-resistant, windproof and water-repellent, and made from 50% recycled polyester. Details include top-quality European goose down, a quilted-through construction, lightweight coiled zippers throughout and a stretch-mesh interior chest pocket that doubles as a zippered stuff sack. Two zippered hand pockets; regular fit.

Men's down sweater-special edition
I travel a lot so i been looking for a down jacket which is thin but warm enough to save my luggage space. This one by Patagonia fits all my needs and the cutting is perfect. On top the 900 fill-power did show the difference esp in the cold temp. It may be a bit pricey when comparing with other brands but again, IT WORTH for every dollar spent especially for those frequent traveler.
Technical
This is really a cool piece of gear. It is extremely lightweight and packs down considerably smaller than fleece. It is cut rather generously, but isn't too bulky to layer underneath a shell. I've used it comfortably as a an outer jacket in temperatures above 40 F and plan to use it mainly for backpacking. It really doesn't provide any real protection from the wind or rain so just plan on using it for insulation or as a light outer jacket. Since it is so light and packable you it won't take up much space in a small backpack or computer bag so you can take it with you virtually anywhere to use as emergency insulation or what have you. I found no real drawbacks to this jacket except for the styling which is a mix between mountain man and space man. But the overall quality and technical nature of the jacket make a keeper.
Great build quality, weight & appearance
Our family owns two of the LE down sweaters - one in the translucent "fog" color from last season and the black one from this season. The jacket embodies Patagonia's typical build quality, but the main feature of this jacket is its weight. People that handle it can't believe how light it is, and it has a superb warmth to weight ratio. The LE jackets have a different fabric as well, and that contributes to their somewhat unique aesthetic appeal. One of my favorite technical pieces that works equally as well around town here in Colorado.
Wonderful down jacket
love the jacket, packs down super small and light. it's definitely the jacket to have for long travels with limited space in your backpack or on multi-day backcountry trips where you need some extra warmth in the bivy or the hut.
Now my favorite jacket
I cannot say enough good things about this jacket. It is very warm, and extremely light. Feels like I am wearing a light sweater, but it can perform like a jacket that is much heavier. It works perfectly in very cold weather when combined with a wool sweater. Another great product from Patagonia and Altrec! Chris
